Deep Management; Coin being flipped

This article is a short summary of the upcoming original book with same title

Management, in its fundamental term, means finding the common ground between company policies and individual expectations. This is the bottom line for any business to survive for long term. Once this is covered up, the next level is to achieve the individual best from each one working with the company. This may require another layer of policies, flexible hierarchy and smooth communication. But, on day-to-day basis this requires something we can call a strong character that plays a significant role above all, ultimately you never met any policies or rule, you always met a person who is bound to those. It is people you are working with.

Once an organization succeeds in developing and encouraging such characters, time-to-time and in the positions where they are expected, it is vital to achieve any goal, target and many more milestone, these characters are to sync the people and to lined-up them in harmony. This is what we called synergy. A power which is flowing through out to the team so they know how to come-up with solution to any problem or how to strategies for a scenario.

There is some quality set that some one should possess to fulfil his role to the team. But it is up to the person who is managing the team, to utilize his quality set and the potential he promised.

I came across a term, years back: Deep learning, which is used in AI, to enable a machine to be trained for details, to dig deep the information and come-up with more accurate results for decision making. When a machine which goes on beyond the predefined rules and mathematics, it achieves something more than just a simpler task, why human learning for the people management should restrict with some management courses and books rather than people themselves whom are dealing with, there is no way of success just by following the policies any ignoring the individual.

And, when I say individual, it doesn’t mean people. Be very careful, deep management is not about people but about individual. It’s like only you two are there, no one else. Neither the company, nor the policy.

When you talk about people it is like democracy, but when you talk about individual it is like religion. I don’t want make any trouble but we are closer to our religion than the society, democracy or any way of people are. Ultimately, we respond according to what we, as an individual, receives.

People are more open and feel more comfortable in working environment when they are addressed as individual rather than as a group or people. Unlike any event where it is better to cheers in crowd than to sit separately.

Deep management means discovering those areas that are beyond, and hidden within, the boundaries of policy and employment agreements at the same time. It is to find out a way of working which is more real time and hence alive.

If your colleagues are talking and worried about work-life balance than there is something terribly wrong with you; work and life are never separated, they together form the holistic life. You can enjoy holidays only if you are working hard for the entire week, like you can sleep more peacefully if you’ve done enough work to be tired. It’s your responsibility to envision them with holistic purpose of their life and how their work is significant to achieve that. People loose hope without purpose, then they loose the life energy which can be fueled to performance.

So deep management is not only for the betterment of organization but for the people as well. If you can serve the employees that means you are serving the people and on social service is as better as this. If you can motivate a single personal, you are doing better than feeding bunch of unknown people. Establishing a healthy environment is better than giving stress management program.

In short, deep management is all about considering your management as some spiritual act and spreading the same values around.
